Jim Cherrington

Jim is the founder of CoMTB, a global, interdisciplinary research group dedicated to examining why, how and where mountain biking matters.

He is the editor of two book collections (Sport and Physical Activity in Catastrophic Environments (2022) and Mountain Biking, Culture and Society (2024) and has undertaken consultancy work for national/international brands and institutions such as Shimano, Protect Our Winters, the Mountain Bike Instructors Award Scheme (MIAS), The National Trust, and the Institute of Chartered Foresters.

In his spare time, Jim serves as the Secretary for Peak District MTB, a voluntary organisation that aims to preserve, improve and promote mountain biking within the Peak District National Park.
